Security Dialog 10/20:
10 Years in NATO, 20 Year of Transformation of the Czech Armed Forces

Center for Security Studies together with Center for Security Policy CESES FSS Charles University in Prague hold set of lectures given by prominent Czech academic specialists and experts based on experience followed by roundtables with national security community which will take place during the academic year of 2009/2010 and 2010/2011.

The purpose of this set of lectures is to declassify a theory used for planning and control of transformation of armed forces reflecting its results in Czech Republic 20 years later, which transformation was intensified after Czech admission to NATO.

Focus is mainly on period from 2002 until 2009: the years of building up professional Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, employment of Czech soldiers in GWOT, review of the results from transformation of armed forces in the field of human and financial resources. The purpose is to open discussions on transformation of the current operation of Czech armed forces.

Each lecture should be no longer than 90 min and should consist of a report from academic specialist (20 min), an expert co-report based on experience (20 min) followed by discussion. The above stated topics will gradually be covered during the next two years. The specific dates of the lectures will be duly confirmed at www.c4ss.cz. The usual place of lectures is the attic of MUP, Zizkov, Prokopova 16, Praha 3. The invitations for each lecture as well as the list of topics presented will be provided on websites of both Centers, in paper on its bulletin boards and at www.onwar.eu
